Net Present Value (NPV)

A financial metric used to evaluate the profitability of an investment by calculating the difference between the present value of future cash inflows and the present value of cash outflows. NPV accounts for the time value of money, meaning it considers that money received today is worth more than the same amount received in the future.

A positive NPV indicates a potentially profitable investment, while a negative NPV suggests a loss.
